To the Editor:
As the “newspaper of record,” I understand your obligation to show both sides of an issue. But your recent spate of articles normalizing MAGA Republicans, and particularly your recent article about gay Republicans, is hard for me to stomach.
To your credit, you point out that Trump and the Republican Party have made many statements and engaged in many policies that vilify and endanger the health and welfare of gay (and especially trans) people.
The mental gymnastics these gay Republicans go through to justify their allegiance to this party, knowing the harm it does to their gay (and trans) brothers and sisters, is the height of hypocrisy.
